Carl Brian pregler
Barrister, Solicitor, Notary PublicB. Comm., M.B.A., LL.B.
Brian grew up in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, where he developed a strong sense of community and a solid academic foundation, graduating from Terry Fox Senior Secondary School. He went on to pursue higher education at the University of Alberta, earning a Bachelor of Commerce and building a deep understanding of business principles and financial systems.
Motivated to expand his expertise, Brian relocated to Ontario to continue his studies. He completed his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School, one of Canada’s most respected legal institutions, and further strengthened his business acumen by earning an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. This combination of legal and business education positioned him uniquely at the intersection of corporate strategy and law.
Brian spent nearly two decades in Toronto working in the corporate sector, with a primary focus on financial services. During this time, he gained extensive experience navigating complex regulatory environments, advising on business operations, and contributing to strategic decision-making within large organizations.
Seeking a change of pace and a closer connection to community life, Brian eventually relocated to Muskoka, where he transitioned into the practice of law. There, he brings his wealth of corporate experience and multidisciplinary education to serve clients with practical, business-informed legal advice.ition to his professional work, Brian is deeply committed to community involvement. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst, contributing to local initiatives and service projects, and serves on the Board of the Cottage Country Family Health Team, supporting access to healthcare in the region.

Lou Scanlon
Lou was born and raised in a suburb of Toronto, the youngest of six children. Lou came to Muskoka in 1995, employed as Legal Assistant to her sister, Muskoka lawyer, Judith Stephenson (now retired). Lou has nearly 40 years of highly skilled experience in Administration and Legal fields, including Family Law, Corporate, Wills and Estates and primarily most recently, Real Estate Law. Her focus in our office is currently Real Estate Law.
Lou is a mother of two grown children and is thankful to have raised her children in beautiful Muskoka. As a child, Lou was a member of several service organizations, namely, Explorers, C.G.I.T. and Girl Guides and continued her membership as an adult as a Sparks and Girl Guide leader. A woman of great faith, Lou has been a Senior Soldier for the Salvation Army (Bracebridge Corps) since 2006 and served for eight years as a local officer, in the position of Corps Treasurer. She is passionate about music and plays a little piano. Lou looks forward to a continued rewarding and enriching experience with her colleagues in the legal profession.
CHERYL BROADBENT
Cheryl was born in Bracebridge and has deep roots in the Muskoka region, where she has returned to build both her personal and professional life. With a strong eagerness to learn and a genuine desire to help others, she is currently working toward becoming a licensed paralegal, bringing dedication, curiosity, and a thoughtful approach to her work.
Known for her warm and approachable nature, Cheryl plays an important role in creating a welcoming environment for clients. She has a natural ability to put people at ease, making every interaction feel comfortable and genuine.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Cheryl’s greatest joy comes from her two dogs, Tux, and Ivy. They are not only beloved companions but also unofficial members of the team, happily greeting clients with wagging tails and friendly enthusiasm. Together, they add a personal touch that reflects Cheryl’s belief that a positive, inviting atmosphere makes all the difference.

Tanya grew up in York Region, ON and it was during Secondary School Tanya discovered her love of law and legal services. She graduated with honors from Centennial College, in Toronto with a Law Clerk Diploma. She began her career in York Region and provided clerical assistance with legal services there for over 21 years. After moving to Kawartha Lakes with her family Tanya decide to work closer to home and has worked servicing Simcoe County and Muskoka for the last 4 years utilizing her expertise in Real Estate Law.
Tanya’s dedication to her professional career has strengthened her and shaped her into the Senior Clerk she is today. She is an energetic, enthusiastic, person who expresses compassion and empathy. Her greatest gifts are being a loving mother and learning how to juggle both motherhood and a successful career.
When Tanya is not working, she spends her time reading, exploring nature with her family and Cane Corso, Duke. She also enjoys traveling and discovering new places and building a lifetime of memories with her family.
Meaghan O’Neill
As the Estates Clerk at the firm, Meaghan brings a thoughtful and dedicated approach to everything she does, along with a genuine connection to the community she serves. Born in Kirkland Lake and raised in Muskoka, she has spent most of her life surrounded by the place she now proudly calls home. Muskoka is where she has built her life, formed meaningful relationships, and spent the past 14 years with her partner. She is also a busy mom to two adventurous young boys, keeping her days lively, laughter-filled, and occasionally a little chaotic. The family is rounded out by a German Shepherd who holds a special place in their home. In her free time, Meaghan enjoys music and embraces the outdoors, making the most of Muskoka’s natural surroundings.
AMANDA FOLKES
Amanda Folkes is a dedicated and detail-oriented real estate law clerk at Pregler Law, where she plays an integral role in ensuring smooth and efficient property transactions for clients. With a strong understanding of real estate procedures, documentation, and compliance requirements, Amanda supports lawyers and clients alike through navigating often complex legal matters.
Outside of her professional role, Amanda lives in Orillia, where she enjoys a fulfilling life centered around family. She is a devoted mother to her daughter, who is the heart of her world. Whether it’s spending quality time together, supporting her daughter’s activities, or creating lasting memories, Amanda cherishes her family. Her deep sense of care and dedication in her personal life mirrors the same compassion and attentiveness she brings to her work each day.

Sara Cruickshank
Sara was born in Markham/Stouffville and grew up in many different towns and cities across Southern Ontario, with her feet now firmly planted in Muskoka. She completed her Law Clerk Diploma at Georgian College with honours in 2020 and has worked passionately in the real estate field ever since. Sara enjoys her free time exploring with her dog, Ariel, gardening, and swimming.
